What’s the difference between a health monitor and a heart rate monitor?
by Pat O'Donnell
Simply put, a health monitor offers you information that a heart rate monitor may not be able to provide. For example, some health monitors determine your body fat, body bass index, and blood pressure, as well as your heart rate and calories burned. A heart rate monitor, on the other hand, usually measures your pulse, calories burned, and the amount of time you spend in your target heart rate zone.
A heart rate monitor is an excellent fitness tool, but a health monitor examines your overall fit life. Determining how much information you need to know will help you decide which one is best for you.
