What features should I look for in a GPS?

What features should I look for in a GPS?
  1. Purpose. There are models designed for use in vehicles, fishing, hiking, and fitness. Choose your activity first.
  2. Cost. Price varies quite a bit, based on the device’s bells and whistles. Every GPS unit will at least give you satellite-based coordinates.
  3. Signal ability. Some units work better than others at picking up a signal in rough terrain. If you plan on hiking in rugged environments, you might want to go with the eTrex legend. It’s super-sensitive and has the memory to store lots of maps.
