Is it safe to bike if I have bad knees?
by Carla Birnberg
Due to its low-impact nature, riding a bike can be a very good way to stay active for those with knee pain. However, if the pedaling range of motion causes extreme discomfort in your knees, you should stop and consult an orthopedic specialist.
Make sure to adjust the pedals and handlebars on the bike to your height, so that you maintain proper leg extension and form during your ride. The wrong fit will do more harm than good.
